Abstract

Residential Broadband, both ADSL and Cable, is becoming a widely deployed method for mass-market access to the Internet. In this talk, we'll look at how one particular Cisco router has evolved to suit the specialized business and technical needs of broadband aggregation. We'll review some of the technical requirements that an aggregation router must meet, and then look at how an architecture based on a programmable network processor is used to balance the need for feature flexibility and throughput in this rapidly-changing market.
