Altera is one of the largest makers of FPGAs and CPLDs.
Altera also provides a Structured ASIC solution known as HardCopy.
Altera is also known for its leading edge FPGA CAD software called
Quartus II. Currently, Altera provides the fastest and largest FPGA
device known as the Stratix II.

Andrew Ling was part of a research and development team at the Altera Toronto
Technology Centre. Here, he worked with the physical synthesis group
and helped on various physical synthesis projects; several of which
dealt with Altera's HardCopyII product. During his time at Altera,
Andrew was able to submit two patents and submit one paper.

SAFLINK provides biometric and smart card security solutions into
physical and network domains. One of their leading products include
EntryPoint and SAFsolution which provides seamless support for
biometric and smart card login into the Windows OS.

Andrew Ling was responsible for various projects to support SAFsolution and
other biometric products. Andrew was also in charge of
assessing the security features of SAFLINK's products.

General Dynamics (GD) is one of the largest military contractors
to the US Department of Defense. GD also provides equipment to several
other western governments who are allied with the USA. GD provides a
wide range of military equipment including air, ground, and marine
defense, and communication systems for military units.

Andrew Ling was part of the TPS team in General Dynamics Calgary
head-quarters. During this time, Andrew developed several support tools
for the TPS team and developed a diagnostic support tool for military
radio units.

PMC-Sierra is one of the leaders in providing network chips for networking
equipment. Some of PMC-Sierra's largest customers include Cisco Systems and Nortel.

Andrew was part of the product development department and aided in
testing several chips before tape out. One of Andrew's main tasks was
to test PMC's Narrowband Switching Element chip (NSE).

GMCL is a consulting firm and provides specialized software support
for process control systems. Their leading product is DBDOC which
addresses the need for a comprehensive view of disparate system resources
in Bailey and other systems.

Andrew Ling added several features to GMCL's DBDOC tool including a file
organization wizard and a user tutorial package.
