I was born in Poland in 1978. Since then I went to many different schools, and lived in several different countries: Poland, Germany, and Canada. The first school which I attended for more than two years is St. Michael's College School. I was there for five years. I graduated from St. Mike's in 1997 and went to the University of Toronto to study Computer Engineering. I'm in the graduating class of 0T1 and am a graduate student now. My MASc thesis is titled "The Use of Traces in Optimization" and I am now working on my PhD, which feels like it is taking forever.
I have worked in the Metallurgy and Materials Science Department at the University of Toronto during the 1998, 1999, and 2000 summers. I have also worked in the department after it was renamed to Material Science and Engineering.
I have several interests. I enjoy playing with computers (I even had a bulletin board system (BBS) for a while, it was called Kaos Land), reading, programming, mathematics, bridge, chess, and some sports: running, downhill skiing, climbing, and tennis. I also learned to play the keyboard. A musical keyboard, not a computer keyboard; I wouldn't even know where to begin learning to play a computer keyboard.
The above is a pretty good list of interests that I enjoy. I find it hard to find the time to even do a fraction of the above, although that has never stopped me from increasing the size of the list of what I enjoy.
