I was born in Poland in 1978. Since then I went to many different schools, and lived in several different countries: Poland, Germany, and Canada. The first school which I attended for more than two years is St. Michael's College School. I was there for five years. I graduated from St. Mike's in 1997 and went to the University of Toronto to study Computer Engineering. I'm in the graduating class of 0T1 and am a graduate student now. My MASc thesis is titled "The Use of Traces in Optimization" and I am now working on my PhD, which feels like it is taking forever.
My first, and so far only, job has been working in the Metallurgy and Materials Science Department at the University of Toronto. I have worked there during the 1998, 1999, and 2000 summers. I have also worked in the department after it was renamed to Material Science and Engineering.
I have several interests. I enjoy playing with computers (I even had a bulletin board system (BBS) for a while, it was called Kaos Land), reading, programming, mathematics, bridge, chess, and some sports: running, downhill skiing, climbing, and tennis. However, having interests and being good in any of them are not the same =) I also learned to play the keyboard for a while. Like a piano, not like a computer keyboard, I wouldn't even know where to begin learning to play a computer keyboard.
The above is a pretty good list of interests that I enjoy. I find it hard to find the time to even do a fraction of the above, but that has never stopped me from increasing the size of the list of what I enjoy. Of course, performing all these activities on a regular basis is a completely different story. Case in point, I added web page design to my todo list sometime during September, 1997. and started my web page in May, 1998.
