A post-doctoral position is available to work on a collaborative multi-year research initiative on mobile platforms -- smartphone, tablet and supporting data centres -- workload characterization, system architecture and image sensor architecture at the University of Toronto. The postdoctoral associate will collaborate with Prof. Andreas Moshovos, Prof. Kyros Kutulakos, and Prof. Natalie Enright Jerger and a team of several graduate students. The project is funded by the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada and is in collaboration with Qualcomm and Nokia Research. The project aims at identifying workloads that will define future mobile platforms, understanding their needs and proposing appropriate architectures for supporting them. The initial emphasis is on computational photography, computer vision, and HTML5-based workloads.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in computer science or computer engineering, or related fields with a focus on Computer Architecture or related fields. An understanding of the current state-of-the-art in computational photography and computer vision, and image sensor architectures is highly desirable.
The position will begin immediately with an initial one year contract and the possibility of renewal for up to three years.
The applicants should email their CVs, brief statement of their background and interests and contact information to Andreas Moshovos.
