Pre-Assignment

A pre-assignment is now available. The document introduces students to the SimpleScalar microarchitectural simulation suite that will be used for completing assignments. Before working through the pre-assignment, students should read the document The SimpleScalar Toolset, Version 2.0.

Pre-assignment: Please note that the document is the same one used the last several years. This year, we are using ug machines (e.g., ug150.eecg), not ugsparc as the handout says.

The SimpleScalar Toolset, Version 2.0

Because of the move from sparc to x86 machines, all simplescalar executables are now in small endian notation instead of big endian notation. However, to keep filenames consistent with previous years, certain file names have the word big in them.
