Mike Hutton – Biography.

Mike Hutton is currently a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Altera Corporation in San Jose, California.

 

He received his BMath in Computer Science from Waterloo University in 1989, and MMath in Computer Science (supervised by Anna Lubiw).  He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1997 from the University of Toronto under the supervision of Jonathan Rose and Derek Corneil.  From 1994 to 1996 he lectured CSC104 in the Computer Science Department.

 

He joined Altera Corporation in 1997, and has been there since.  While at Altera he has been involved in the development of the APEX and Mercury architectures, place&route algorithms, synthesis and general research on programmable logic.  He is author or co-author of 7 patents or patent applications in progress in the area of programamble logic.

 

His research and work interests involve graph-theory and combinatorics and their application to architecture and design of programmable logic devices (PLDs and FPGAs), computer-aided design software and algorithms for PLDs including synthesis, place&route and timing analysis.
