Labs and Lab Assignments

Labs are from 12-3 in GB144/150. We will only need one of the rooms, but I don't know yet which one.

Grades for the labs are assigned according to the scale shown in the table below.

1	Attended lab
2	Prep attempted but in rough shape
4	Prep done but design has major problems
7	Design has minor problems
9	Design works for all cases
10	Above and beyond call of duty:
	extra features, be creative

There will be about 11 lab periods of which two will be used for a project of your own design.

  
Textbooks

The text is the same as for ECE253F:

Hamacher, Vranesic, Zaky, Computer Organization, fourth edition, McGraw Hill, 1996.

We will also be doing some material on asynchronous circuits. I hope the lecture notes will be sufficient, but a good reference is:

Morris Mano, Digital Design, second edition, Prentice-Hall, 1991, Chapter 9.

  
Grading

There will be one midterm test and a final exam.

Midterm Date: Thursday, October 30, 5-7pm, SF4102.

The composition of the final grade is as follows:

Lab Assignments	15%
Lab Project	10%
Midterm	20%
Final Exam	55%

The Midterm and Final Exam are Type D (examiner specified aids) and NO calculators of any kind are permitted.
