New major CIHR Project funded (2026): “Closing the
Loop on Epilepsy: Patient-Optimal Artificially Intelligent Neurostimulators for
Drug-Resistant Focal Seizures”
We are actively looking for new PhD students and
Postdoctoral fellows with expertise/interest in:
·
digital FPGA/ASIC design for energy-efficient ML
acceleration
·
analog and mixed-signal IC and SoC design for
biomedical applications
·
machine learning (various deep and shallow
models, edge AI, foundation models for neuroscience, model reduction techniques)
– jointly with University of Montreal
·
neuromodulation (neurostimulation to treat
epilepsy in humans, clinical trials of novel neuromodulation methods, adaptive
neurostimulation/DBS) – jointly with Toronto Western Hospital and Mayo Clinic
We are also actively looking for new PhD students and
Postdoctoral fellows with expertise/interest in our other projects:
·
analog, mixed-signal and digital IC designers
with expertise/interest in image sensors and camera design (with
applications to computational imaging, computer vision and with a possible focus
on commercialization/start-up/spin-off)
·
analog, mixed-signal and digital IC designers with
expertise/interest in in-memory computing for ML acceleration (in
particular, in charge-domain computing, near-field inductively-coupled wireless
links and chip-to-chip communication) – jointly with University of California
at San Diego (UCSD)
