Logo Design Contest

Note: You can submit your design by Monday, January 18, 2010, 9am.

The Connections 2010 organizing committee is seeking a logo for Connections that will strengthen the symposium identity and will serve the Connections for years to come. The symposium logo will be used on flyers, a website, and other symposium related material.

Participants

The logo contest is open to all students at the University of Toronto (undergraduate and graduate). However the submissions by the engineering students will be given priority.

Submission

  1. Submissions should be emailed to contest@uoftconnections.ca. Please indicate your full name and affiliation with U of T (department, program, and year).
  2. Multiple submissions (in the same e-mail or separate e-mails) are welcome up to total of 5 logo designs per individual student.
  3. The deadline for submission is January 15, 2010* (please submit your designs by the following Monday 9am).
  4. By submitting a logo design you agree to transfer the copyright on the design to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto, should your design win.

Technical Requirements

  1. The logo has to be in a vector graphic format.
  2. The logo should use a maximum of 5 colors.
  3. The logo should be appropriate for black and white printing.

Selection

A design should satisfy the following to be considered for the contest:
  1. It must be original and not based on any pre-existing design; and
  2. It produces no trademark problems due to potential similarities to existing trademarks.
The submitted designs that satisfy the above requirements will be evaluated by the Connections 2010 organizing committee by the following criteria:
  1. Suitability for Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate symposium;
  2. Reflecting the core idea of the Connections, i.e., building connections between graduate students, faculty, and industry;
  3. Relation to the symposium's slogan: "Get Involved, Get Connected!", which can be part of the design;
  4. Identifiability and uniqueness; and
  5. General appearance.
The organizing committee reserves the right not to choose any logo shall the quality of the submissions be insufficient.

Prize

The author of the winning logo design will be notified by e-mail no later than March 1, 2010* and will be awarded with
  1. An official certificate;
  2. A cash prize of $100 (to be awarded on the day of the symposium); and
  3. An invitation to the showcase dinner to be held on the day of the symposium.

The authors of the two runner-ups designs will also be awarded with official certificates and invitations to the dinner.
