| Slides: | 2-3.pdf |
| Abstract: | The unlicensed 57-64 GHz band features a large bandwidth and is very attractive for very high data rate (Gb/s) short-range communications such as wireless High Definition TV (HDTV) and Personal Area Networks (PAN). A 1.2-V, 60-GHz receiver was demonstrated in 90nm CMOS with a power gain of 16 dB and 60 mW power consumption, occupying 0.6x0.48 mm2. A 60-GHz power amplifier with 14dB gain and +6dBm output saturated power has recently been demonstrated. The 71-84 GHz band allows for more spectrally efficient modulations with potential data rates of up to 10Gb/s (OC-192) and greater range over 60 GHz. The first W-band receiver (76-92 GHz) with 12dB down-conversion gain and 94mW power consumption, occupying 0.55x0.55 mm2 has been submitted for publication. The goal is to implement a single-chip transceiver operating with on-chip oscillator signal. |
